Luca Arboccò’s work is about pictorial representation in the digital age. His composite approach blends together a variety of media to look at painting from different perspectives and challenge its traditional conventions. Drawing from cultural, historical, and biological references, Arboccò invites the viewer to shift their gaze and reexamine the distance between images and reality. His work often plays with the perception of space, creating a suspension between flatness and three-dimensionality that opens up dreamlike, digital realms.
“I want to paint with iridescent colors a blurred-edges world”, he says. A key theme in his work is centered around landscapes, a motif historically used to depict the physical world and its opposite, the idealization and vision of an imagined, utopian place.
