Almudena Torró

B. 1968 Madrid, Spain.

Lives and works in Alicante, Spain.

Almudena Torró has consolidated a distinctive sculptural language through her exploration of metal mesh, an industrial material that she recontextualizes as a medium for her artistic research. Her work creates a constant dialogue between vacuum, space-light and projected shadows, which become changing compositional elements.

Through her previous series, she examines continuous change, loss and life cycles. Her sculptures establish a dialectic with the viewer, involving them in an immersive and kaleidoscopic experience. The refined technique with which she manipulates the material, including controlled combustion processes, reveals a rigorous methodology oriented to wards her search for the essential.

In his latest series, Re-encounter, Torró delves into introspection and renewal, stripping the material of artifice. His sculptures invite introspective journeys that encourage the viewers to abandon the known to embrace the transcendent.
